Three Reasons I am Thankful to Write

This blog series, #30DaysofGratitude, hopes to share bits of gratitude and create an awareness of how gratitude can change our mindset.

Every day this month, I, along with other writers, teachers and friends, will post about all things gratitude. Come along for the ride and let me know what you are most grateful for every day – I know we can inspire one another.

I write a blog called Looking For The Good because all through my day, no matter where I go, or what I do, I am always looking for the good. I try to find the good in people, in the world, in my life or even just in my day.

I even spent the month leading up to my birthday, posting one thing every day that I was thankful for, so I thought it would be a piece of cake to write a guest post for my ChicagoNow fellow blogger, Nina. After more thought than I ever give my own blog posts, I finally decided that I would write about how grateful I am that I discovered my passion for writing a few years ago and wholeheartedly began to pursue it.

There are three reasons that I am full of gratitude for my passion for writing:

#1 It fills me with such joy. No matter what my day is like as soon as I spend time writing, I feel better. I think that when I express myself, I am able to connect with some part deep inside of me that grows and expands as I write.

#2 It makes me proud of myself. That might sound arrogant to some but writing gives me a sense of self like nothing else can. I move past my fears. I set goals, and reach for them. I push myself to be more, uncover more about myself and express myself more.

#3 It gives me hope that by pursuing my own passion, my daughters and others will discover and reach for their own dreams. No matter what their dreams and passions are, I want to encourage others to find their own and pursue them.

I have been reading books for as long as I can remember and through others words, I have been inspired to learn about life and gain an awareness of the choices that I am making. I published my first book in 2013 and my life has not been the same since. May each and everyone reading these words choose their own path in life based on their dreams and their passions.
