So every now and then I find products I love so much I absolutely need to share my love with anyone who will listen. There are so many beauty products out there, so many beauty bloggers, reviews and sales women dressed all in black trying to tell you what you need and why you need it. I have no expertise in these matters, just what tickles my face fancy. These are all a bit pricey, I know – but they just work for me SO well! Here ya go, my top five and why I’m sharing.
Trish McEvoy High Volume Mascara
I’ve been using this mascara for years after being a devout DiorShow girl. The “tubular volumizing mascara” forms water-resistant tubes around your lashes and it dries quickly. When I first started using it, I freaked out when taking off my makeup because it comes off in tubes, yes, tubes. I thought my lashes were coming off, but no – just the mascara. All you need is warm water to remove it, and no raccoon eyes afterward! It keeps my eyelashes hydrated and the volume is incredible.
I have the smallest, saddest little eyelashes in the world. They grow downward! Thank goodness for eyelash curlers. But this product? One swipe on the eyelashes in the morning and at night is all you need. Within three weeks of using this product, I noticed longer, thicker lashes! While it did not make my eyelashes curly, they do look more fabulous when I curl them myself. The product retails for around $65 for a three month supply – It’s worth every penny.
Exfolikate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment
Made by Kate Sommerville, this pricey buy for me ($85 for 2 oz.) is my must have! I can’t get enough of this product. Use it three times a week as your exfoliator to get rid of dead skin cells, smooth out your lovely face and leave it feeling dewy and glowing. Yes this product works, yes my skin looks brighter and yes my skin feels softer when I use it. Go figure – take care of your skin and it looks better.
Colorescience Sunforgettable Mineral Powder Brush (SUNSCREEN!)
LOVE this sunscreen. It glides on smoothly, is water resistant, and leaves your face with a smooth evened out finish. I keep this in my car to re-apply throughout the day, as needed. Note, the product claims to be long lasting – I’m too chicken to try it out so I re-apply after being in the sun a while. Check out the link above – Amazon has the best prices.
FOR YOUR LIPLINER!!! I found out about this less than $5 product from the most faboosh makeup blogger Maskcara. I use this as a lip liner with almost all of my lipsticks. It is a neutral, glides on smoothly and makes for a great, neutral every day lip. I love to use it, blend it and then swipe almost any lipgloss over it for a super casual look. Head over to Maskcara to see her tutorials – they are so fun and easy to copy!!
So that wraps up my top five. Please note I get absolutely nothing for mentioning these products! How cool would that be? I just buy them, (hide the credit card statement,) use them, loved them and had to share them.
If you want to read more of my favorites, let me know – I’m dying over a new lipgloss right now. And don’t get me started on my electric toothbrush…
